Cycling along the river banks

Take this bike tour in the morning or in the evening, both will give you unforgettable memories. If you start early in the morning, you will end this 4 hour ride by having lunch on a lagoon. When you start after the lunch, you will end up enjoying sunset on Pangandaran.

You will start the tour on the road to the thatch/nipa palm plantation. But first, you will come across the old trainways built in 1912 by the Dutch. Then you will pass through the paddy field when the farmers start their day. Then you will arrive in the plantation, you can stop and learn to make dahon (handicraft made from thatch leaves) from the people.

We will go through the village up to the Matras Dam. This is an irrigation dam where two rivers join. You can ride on the edge of the dam. You will feel like you are riding on the water! The journey after the dam will be up and up to the chalk cliff Karst Hill and off to Munggang Kemit hill. Munggang Kemit is the best spot to enjoy the view of Pananjung Peninsula. With the height of 75 meters above sea level, it is a great place to witness the sunset.

The tour will get easier from here. We will go down to the Ciputrapinggan Lagoon. The lagoon is located in the middle of coconut plantation. We will stop here to have lunch with typical food from Pangandaran: pindang gunung.

We will continue the journey back passing through a fisherman village in Cikidang. You can witness the fisherman activities here: catching the fish, selling the fish, making salted fish and even making shrimp paste! And to top it all, we will have to cross the Cikidang River with a raft to the base station home.
